The Death of Scalebeard

There is an elite silver turtle that lives in an island cave just off the beach of Azshara. You have to make your way past the lvl 48-52 Naga and avoild the elite giants in the water. Scalebeard's lair is at 59, 43 Titan Panel. A valiant and epic duel between a rock hard turtle and a very stubborn Tauren. Got a nice drop, plate armour as I expected. Thank the Earth Mother for my Imperial Plate Armour set and those that helped me get to this point in the game. For the Horde!

Leatherworking 200-300: Grinding Guide

Pasiphae now has some great Hunters who are nearing the point of choosing to skill up on a specific type of leatherworking. Hopefully, those doing leatherworking will chat amongst yourselves to each choose a specific skill direction, ie. dragon, tribal, etc.

In the meantime, here is some helpful hints to level from 200 to 300:

Level: 200-220: Make and sell “Thick Armour Kits”

Level: 215-230 Make and sell “Big Voodoo Robe”

ref: http://www.thottbot.com/?i=4064

You may have to buy the pattern but it really isn’t that expensive. A few stacks of armor kits will cover it easily. To make these, you need flasks of Mojo. Go to the Hinterlands and farm Trolls. They give these things away as drops. At the same time, you can grind on the turtles at the shore line (and collect scales too)

ALTERNATE OPTION

Level: 220-235 Make and sell “Tough Scorpid Bracers”
ref: http://www.thottbot.com/?i=7601

If you’re not into the whole mountains and oceans theme but would rather climb sand dunes and bake in the sun, these are for you. Tanaris and Burning Steppes scorpions drop these at a decent rate and are plentiful. Burning Steppes has a better drop rate but you need to be in your mid 50s to get them.

Life gets MUCH easier from here…for awhile

Level: 230-245 Make and sell “Nightscape Pants”
Ref: http://www.thottbot.com/?i=3149

The good thing about these pants is that they don't have any secondary mats like turtle scales or scorpion scales and are available from your trainer. They are however, leather hogs. The plus is though, they Disenchant into Dream Dust and Greater Nether Essence which sell very well. Thus the reason to have someone who can Disenchant items….hello?

Level: 235-250 Nightscape Boots
Ref: http://www.thottbot.com/?i=6735

(same as above)

Level: 250-265 Make and sell “Rugged Armor Kits”

Ref: http://www.thottbot.com/?i=5749

Level: 260-275 Make and sell “Wicked Leather Bracers”

Ref: http://www.thottbot.com/?i=14890

Level: 260-300 Patience is virtuous now! All the patterns are either drops or specialization patterns. You’re gonna have to fork over the coin so make you’ve been saving. Check with your Guild mates and see if someone has a few of these patterns gathering dust in their bank. These bracers (along with all wicked items) are great to skill up on and Rogues will buy them. You can also disenchant them into Dream Dust and Lesser Eternal Essence.

Level: 280-300 Make and sell “Wicked Leather Headband”

Ref: http://www.thottbot.com/?i=5404

If you can stumble your way up to level 280 then these will take you all the way to the promised land. They sell well (as long as the AH isn’t flooded, time your postings for California time as the Ravencrest server is west coast) and they disenchant into Dream Dust and Greater Eternal Essence.

It takes tons of leather to get to level 300 so keep on killing and skinning.

The real fun begins after level 300!

GOOD LUCK!!!

Surviving Un'Goro Crater

If you are venturing to Un'goro Crater make sure to bring swiftness potions or go with hunter (aspect of the pack) if you are mountless. Though you can survive at level 45 in the crater, survive is primarily all you can do solo (other than herbing/mining). The crater is the place to go for mining Thorium, Mitrhil and Truesilver. Though watch out for the Pterodons as they jealously guard those veins time to time. On the herbing side, sungrass, dreamfoirl, un'goro soil, bloodspouts and golden samsan are your main targets.

Getting to Marshall's Refuge can be quite the task but the best and safest route is to hang a right as you enter the crater from the road leading out of Tanaris. There is a Tauren quest giver on a rock at this intersection so you may want to pick up some quests while your there. Follow the ridgeline until you get to the gorillas. Avoid them unless you are in a group or a lvl 50+. Skirt around the mini-king kongs and then back to the mountains. Keep running until you see a goblin chick by the tar pits. The path to Marshalls Refuge and flight path is right there.

There are plenty of big XP quests in Un'goro. You will find it easy to group with others when other players are there though recently I haven't seen an abundance of toons playing in the crater.
One last note to getting the crater. You have to run through Tanaris. The path is on the other side of Zul' Farak (troll instance). Just meander your way thru the desert staying close to that area. Time to time open your mini-map which shows the path. You will enter an area of Thistleshrub toons you can grind/quest items or run by them.
Good luck :)
